Kalman filter, engage! ⚡
Woohoo! The brain is alive! 🧠⚡
Last time we left off, we were about to flash firmware onto real hardware and hoped we wouldn’t burn anything (the bad kind of burning, that is). Update: nothing caught fire! And the good kind of burning went great too.
Since then we’ve been heads-down on the fun part - the algorithms. And we’re excited to say the battery model and fuel gauge are up and running, Kalman filter and all. Yes, an actual Extended Kalman Filter, quietly crunching numbers on a tiny STM32, turning noisy voltage and current readings into a real state of charge estimate.
No more guessing games - the math is doing its job. 📈
Where to find it
We gave the firmware its own home on the site. Head over to the OpenBMS Firmware project page to see what it’s all about.
More updates (and hopefully more graphs) soon. Until then - stay charged! 🔋
